Do you know how to cut angles, make outline shapes and do layering? When you cut a piece of hair, do you know how that piece of hair is going to fall?
When you learn about cutting techniques, you should already have this sort of basic knowledge of how to cut hair and understand how a cut affects the way the hair will fall.

Remember, once you know all the basic rules about cutting hair, you can start to break them and then you can become more creative.
